YORK, Pa. – Following his stellar performance at the Lebanon Valley Invitational last Saturday, York College sophomore standout Tim Hartung has been chosen as the Capital Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for men's cross country.
Hartung, who experienced tremendous success as a rookie both in cross country and track last year, ran to a top-ten finish at the competitive meet. The Spartan traversed the course in 16:17.68, snagging an eighth place finish out of 160 runners.
On the heels of Hartung's showing and the performances of John Wallace, Steven Childres, and the Spartan squad, York took third overall behind two regional powers, Elizabethtown and Johns Hopkins. With that team finish, the Green and White have landed in the top-15 in the region.
Hartung and the Spartans return to action on Saturday, September 17. York is slated to host the Coach Achtzehn Classic at John Rudy Park starting at 4:00 pm.
