READING, PA - The York College men’s cross country squad posted their second invitational championship of the year as the Green and White won the Albright College Invitational on Saturday in Reading, PA. The Spartans completed the event with a team score of 28. Penn College finished second with 55 points while the host Lions were third with 69 points.
York was very strong in the race as the Spartans had four of the top six finishers. Junior Bret Kilefner (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) paced a pack of four Spartans as he finished third with a time of 28:42.22. He was followed by junior Paul Wallace (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) as Wallace finished fourth with a time of 29:13.81. Senior Jason Hinkle (York, Pa./Eastern York) rolled in 12 seconds behind Wallace to place fifth for the Green and White. Junior Andrew Friesma (Adamstown, Pa./Cocalico) rounded out the Spartan pack finishing sixth with a time of 29:26.85.
Freshman Steven Andrews (Exton, Pa./Henderson B. Reed) was the next Spartan to cross the finish line, clocking in with a time of 30:06.28. That was good for a tenth place finish for Andrews. Sophomore Pat Lestrange (Green Brook, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) rounded out the Spartans’ top six performers, as he placed 11th with a time of 30:12.53.
The Spartans had six of the top 11 finishers and eight of the top 25 in the 62-runner field.
York returns to action on Saturday when they travel to the Goucher College Invitational. The action kicks off in Towson, MD at 11:30 am.
