Spartans Place Fourth at Belmont Classic
PHILADELPHIA, PA-The York College men’s cross country
squad posted a solid fourth place finish at the Belmont Cross
Country Classic hosted by Cabrini College. The Spartans finished
with a team score of 113 while allowed them the fourth place finish
in the 19-team field.
The Spartans were paced by senior Jesse Jaeger (Kingsville,
Md./Perry Hall) as he placed fourth with a time of
27:47.66. Jaeger, the reigning CAC Men’s Runner-of-the-Week,
has been the Spartans’ top performer in every event the teams
has participated in this season.
Sophomore Matt Provonche (Churchville, Md./C. Milton
Wright) continues his strong second campaign in the green
and white as he placed sixth, just over three seconds back of
Jaeger as he clocked in with a time of 27:50.90. Junior
Kevin Love (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) was the
next Spartan to cross the finish line, as he placed 22nd with a
time of 28:44.62.
Sophomore Andrew Friesma (Adamstown, Pa./Cocalico)
finished 35th for York as he completed the race in a time of
29:36.20. Sophomore Bret Kilefner (Stevens,
Pa./Cocalico) was the final scorer for the Spartans as he
placed 46th with a time of 30:07.78.
The Spartans travel to the Goucher Invitational on Saturday,
October 4 in Towson, MD. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00
am.
