YORK, PA-York College is proud to announce that men’s cross country runner Jesse Jaeger has been named the Spartan Athlete of the Week for September 1-7, 2008.
Jaeger, a senior from Kingsville, Md. and Perry Hall High School, led the Spartans to an outstanding fourth-place team finish at the Lebanon Valley Invitational on a dreary Saturday afternoon in Annville, PA. The Spartans’ fourth-place finish in the 14-team field was their best ever finish at the annual event.
Jaeger finished the race eighth with a time of 27:02.85, just over a second out of seventh place and under five seconds out of a top five finish. His finish was the best ever for a York College men’s runner at the event and placed him as the second finisher among CAC athletes participating in the event. The invitational featured 173 individual runners.
Spartan head coach Rich Achtzehn was happy with Jaeger’s performance.
“Jesse ran great,” gushed Achtzehn. “He performed like he was in midseason form. All the training he did this summer paid off with a top 10 finish in this highly regarded early season invitational. I'm excited about his possibilities this season!”
Jaeger is a senior business administration major and is the son of Brad and Denise Jaeger.
