YORK, PA – The York College men’s cross country team grabbed a trio of top-ten individual times en route to a second-place team finish at the six-team Spartan Invitational held at John Rudy Park in York, Pa.
Jesse Jaeger (Kingsville, Md./Perry Hall) continues his strong running in 2008 as the senior All-Capital Athletic Conference performer recorded an individual second-place finish with a time of 27:14.11.
Sophomore Matt Provonche (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright), who is becoming one of the top young runners in the area, finished just behind Jaeger notching third as he crossed the line at 27:29.95. Junior Kevin Love (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) ran to the Spartans third top-ten finish, as he clocked a ninth-place 28:03.73.
Jason Hinkle (York, Pa./Eastern York) and Bret Kilefner (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) registered back-to-back times of 28:13.06 and 28:35.36 to come in 12th and 13th respectively.
Andrew Friesma’s (Adamstown, Pa./Cocalico) 18th-place spot, with a time of 29:28.61, was the green and white’s sixth top-20 finish.
The Spartans now return to the training ground to prepare for next week’s trip to Randor, Pa. The Cabrini Invitational is slated to begin at 10:30 am.
