WAYNESBURG, PA – A contingent of the York
College men’s cross country team competed at the NCAA
Division III Mideast Regionals Saturday at Waynesburg University.
Over 300 runners competed in the race from institutions located
throughout the region.
Matt Provonche (Churchville,
Md./C. Milton Wright) was the Spartans’ top
finisher. The sophomore, who came in 24th at the Capital Athletic
Conference championships two weeks ago, traversed the course in
27:14 to take 70th place at the regionals.
Andrew Friesma (Adamstown,
Pa./Cocalico) and Patrick Lestrange (Green Brook,
N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) were York’s second and
third finishers. Friesma clocked in at 28:57 while Lestrange came
in at 29:21.
Freshman Javier Skwara (Wharton,
N.J./Morris Hills) registered the green and white’s
final time. Skwara covered the southwestern Pennsylvania course in
30:04.
The regional meet concludes York’s
2008 season. The Spartans bid farewell to their four senior runners
Adam Bean (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X),
Jesse Jaeger (Kingsville, Md./Perry Hall),
Matt Neil (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley), and
Matt Stoakes (Dover, Pa./Lincoln).
