ANNVILLE, PA – The York College men’s cross country team earned a fourth-place finish in just their first meet of the season Saturday, at the Lebanon Valley College Invitational. The Spartans’ placement is their top finish in the history of the LVC meet.
Senior All-Capital Athletic Conference runner Jesse Jaeger (Kingsville, Md./Perry Hall) paced the green and white as he crossed the finish line at 27:02.85. Jaeger’s 8th-place time is tops for any Spartan runner in the history of the LVC invitational.
Sophomore Matt Provonche (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright) was the second Spartan to finish, coming in 19th with a time of 27:38.06 while teammate junior Jason Hinkle (York, Pa./Eastern York) posted a time of 28:13.10 for a 31st place finish. Sophomore Bret Kilefner (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) earned York’s fourth top-50 finish when he crossed the line in 45th clocking a 28:34.41.
A total of 173 runners representing 14 schools competed at the LVC Invitational. Aside from York’s four top-50 finishes, the Spartans had seven runners finish in the top-100.
The Spartans return to action next Saturday, September 13, when they travel to Westminster, Md. for the McDaniel Invitational. The meet is slated to begin at 9:40 am.
