Spartans Place Third at Goucher Classic
TOWSON, MD – The York College men’s
cross-country squad put on a solid performance Saturday afternoon
at the Goucher College Classic, finishing a strong third behind
Navy and Dickinson College. York posted five top-30 finishers
including two in the top-20.
Jesse Jaeger (Kingsville, Md./Perry Hall)
continues to record strong times in his senior season, as he was
the first Spartan finisher and eleventh overall with a time of
28:12.81. Jaeger’s time was the second-best among Division
III participants at the meet.
Junior Jason Hinkle (York, Pa./Eastern York) gave
York their second top-20 runner, clocking a time of 29:12.07 as he
finished in 20th-place. Sophomore Matt Provonche
(Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright) came in just two spots
and 13 seconds behind Hinkle, crossing the line at 29:25.95 for
22nd.
Kevin Love (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) grabbed
26th for the York side, finishing the race in 29:42.54 while
Bret Kilefner (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) traversed
the course in 29:58.66 giving him a 30th place finish.
The Spartans, who are off next weekend due to the College’s
fall break, will travel to Gettysburg, Pa. on Saturday, October 18.
The Gettysburg Invitational is set for 11:00 am.
