Spartans Compete at Gettysburg Invitational

GETTYSBURG, PA – The York College
men’s cross country team competed in the Gettysburg
Invitational Saturday morning, hosted by Gettysburg College. The
Spartans finished 14th out of 19 teams with 408 points in the
270-participant race.
York’s top finisher on the day was sophomore Matt
Provonche (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright). Provonche
traversed the 8,000 meter course in a time of 27:15.66, as he took
58th-place.
Junior Jason Hinkle (York, Pa./Eastern York) and
sophomore Kevin Love (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford)
grabbed York’s next two spots, finishing 87th and 94th
respectively. Hinkle clocked a 27:43.01 while Love crossed the line
at 27:48.94.
Sophomore Bret Kilefner (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico)
fell just outside the top-100 as he placed 101st with a time of
27:58.72.
The Spartans will next face Goucher on October 25 in a dual meet
starting at 1:00 pm. The meet against the Gophers will be
York’s final tune-up before the Capital Athletic Conference
Championships on November 1 in Fredericksburg, Va.
