YORK, PA-The York College men’s cross country team won their own Spartan Invitational on a warm Saturday morning at John Rudy County Park in York, PA. The Spartans finished first of six teams in the event as junior Jesse Jaeger (Kingsville, Md./Perry Hall) earned the individual title with his first place finish. The Spartans finished with 36 points as they easily outdistanced Goucher College as the Gophers placed second with 60 points.
Jaeger cruised to the win as he led almost the entire race. He finished with a time of 28:19.15. Senior Luke Fernandez (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunk) finished a strong second behind Jaeger as he clocked in with a time of 28:24.11. Freshman Paul Wallace (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) was the third Spartan to notch a top ten finish as he placed seventh with a time of 29:29.81. Junior Adam Bean (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X) earned a 12th place finish as he recorded a time of 30:11.25. Freshman Andrew Friesma (Adamstown, Pa./Cocalico) was the fifth Spartan finisher as he placed 14th with a time of 30:20.53.
The Spartans return to action on Friday at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh College. The meet begins at 2:00 pm.
