WESTMINSTER, MD-The York College men’s cross country team competed at Saturday’s McDaniel College Green Terror Cross Country Challenge in Westminster, MD. The event was split into two separate races, a 3k run and a 5k race. The Spartans placed second in the 3k run and fourth in the 5k race.
In the 3k event, Matt Provonche (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright) was the Spartans’ top finisher as he placed third with a time of 10:04. Teammate Andrew Friesma (Adamstown, Pa./Cocalico) was a second back of Provonche as he placed fifth for York. Freshman Paul Wallace (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) recorded York’s third top-ten finish in the event as he placed eighth with a time of 10:19.
In the 5k event, junior Jesse Jaeger (Kingsville, Md./Perry Hall) was the Spartans’ best finisher has he crossed the line in fifth, notching a time of 17:09. Senior Luke Fernandez (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunk) finished seventh as he recorded a time of 17:31. Junior Adam Bean (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X) was the third Spartan to cross the line in the 5k as he placed 23rd with a time of 18:25.
The Spartans return to action next Saturday as they host the Spartan Invitational at John Rudy County Park in York. The men’s race is slated to begin at 11:30 am.
