Title: Asst. Track & Field Coach

Leander Toney enters into his first season as an assistant coachwith the York College track and field team.

Toney’s experience will greatly benefit the Spartanprogram. He will be working primarily with the jumpers.

Toney began as a collegiate athlete at Shippensburg Universityfor the 2007-08 season. He was the 2008 USTFCCCCA East RegionOutdoor Field Athlete of the Year. Toney holds the current outdoorschool record for high jump at Shippensburg with a height of 2.18meters. In the spring of 2009, Toney transferred to IUP. While atIUP, Toney was an NCAA Outdoor and Indoor Division II Track andField All-American. He was also the Pennsylvania State AthleticConference Outdoor High Jump Champion for three seasons. Toneycurrently holds the outdoor high jump record at IUP as well, whichstands at 2.18 meters. Toney headed out to the University ofCentral Missouri for graduate school and his final year ofeligibility. At Central Missouri, he was the Mid-AmericaIntercollegiate Athletics Association outdoor and indoor high jumpchampion.
