Spartan Men Complete CAC Championship Prep This Weekend

YORK, PA – The Spartan men's track and field squad completed their final tune up for next week's Capital Athletic Conference championships with a pair of meets this weekend. The Spartans sent a few sprinters and distance runners to the Monmouth University Winter Invitational on Saturday. They then sent some jumpers and throwers to the Dickinson DuCharme Invitational in Carlisle, PA.

The Spartans had 18 top-20 finishers at Monmouth on Saturday and seven top 20 finishers at Dickinson on Sunday.

Notes

Sophomore Drew Alansky set a new PR in the 5K race on Saturday as he crossed the line in a time of 15:56.03 to finish second … a trio of Spartans set new personal bests on Saturday in the 3K race as Dan Forry, Justin Smyth, and Matt Zubrzycki all set new standards for themselves in the event … senior Ben Hinkel set a new PR in the mile with a time of 4:36.70 … on Sunday, sophomore Joshua Watson set new PRs in both the long jump (6.24 meters / 20' 5.75") and the triple jump (12.36 meters / 40' 6.75").

 

Up Next:

The Spartans head to the Capital Athletic Conference championships on Friday afternoon for the two-day championships hosted in Newport News, VA. The action kicks off Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm and features the 5,000 meter run, the 60 meter hurdles preliminaries, the distance medley relay, along with the high jump, the weight throw, and the pole vault.
