Dell Shines for Spartans at CAC Indoor Championships

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The York College men's track & field squad finished fourth of seven teams at the 2016 Capital Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field championships hosted by Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia.

The Spartans totaled 58 points for the championship. Host CNU won the championship with 166 points while Salisbury was second with 118 points. Wesley was third with 92 points. Frostburg State (29 points), Harrisburg (24 points) and Mary Washington (9 points) rounded out the seven team field.

The Spartans had one champion as sophomore Grant Dell was victorious in the 5000 meter run. Dell also earned a second place finish in the 3000 meter run.

Senior Alex Palescandolo earned a runner-up finish in the shot put to earn the second-team All-CAC honors.

Alex Smith, Darnell Tillman, and Kevin Landis each earned third places finishes for York. Smith was third in the 3K run, Tillman in the 400-meter dash and Landis in the pole vault.

What's Next:

The Spartans are now done for the 2016 Indoor season. The Spartans return to action on Saturday, March 19 when they travel to Elizabethtown for the Blue Jay Opener. York will host the York College Twilight Invitational on Wednesday, March 23 at the Grumbacher Center.
