CANTON, N.Y. – York College junior thrower Robert Doster (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) made his second NCAA championship appearance on Saturday afternoon at the 2015 NCAA Division III championships in Canton, N.Y.
Doster finished 18th of 20 participants in the javelin throw during competition on Saturday.
Doster began the day with a throw of 52.91 meters. He followed that with a best toss of 54.21 meters. Doster's final toss of 49.94 meters would not be good enough to advance him to the finals of the javelin competition.
Doster earned his second straight NCAA championship appearance after winning the Capital Athletic Conference championship with a best throw of 58.66 meters.
Top seeded Travon Godette of Westfield State won the javelin championship with a best throw of 67.50 meter, which came on his first throw of the championships. Godette won the event by almost two full meters, besting PSU-Behrend's Mitchell Obenrader.
Doster finished .61 meters out of 17th place and 4.3 meters out of a top ten finish.
Doster is slated to return for his senior year as one of just two Spartan men's track and field athletes to have earned multiple NCAA championship berths during their careers.
