More Records Fall as Spartans Compete at Bucknell and George Mason

The York College men's track and field team put forth more quality performances as the athletes competed at the Bison Open at Bucknell University on Friday and at the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason University on Saturday.

Junior sprinter Darnell Tillman (Enola, Pa. / East Pennsboro) had the notable individual performance of the weekend as he broke his own school record in the indoor 200 meter dash with a time of 22.64, eclipsing his old mark of 22.75.

Tillman joined his teammates in setting another school record on Saturday at the Patriot Games as the 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Darien Gray (Bladensburg, Md. / Gonzaga), Tillman, Anthony Smart (Thornton, Pa. / Garnet Valley) and Okera Beidleman (Germantown, Md. / Northwest) set the indoor school record with a time of 3:28.59, surpassing the old mark of 3:31.19.

Senior distance runner Michael Stetson (Old Bridge, N.J. / Old Bridge) set a new personal record in the 5K with a time of 15:13.64 as he took a third place finish at the Bison Open on Friday.

Freshman distance runner Andy MacGibbon (Goffstown, N.H. / Goffstown) also set a personal record in the 5K at the Bison Open with a time of 16:10.13.

Three other Spartans competed in the 5K at Bucknell who included Wil Murray (Cape May Court House, N.J. / Middle Township) who put down a time of 16:07.78, Ryan Aug (Monmouth Junction, N.J. / South Brunswick) who recorded a time of 16:10.51 and Craig Eppler (Bethlehem, Pa. / Northampton) who ran a time of 16:10.56.

More runners saw personal records fall on Saturday at the Patriot Games, two of who competed in the 200 meter dash. Gray set a personal best with a time 23.47 and freshman Alex Koslowski (Tinton Falls, N.J. / Monmouth Regional) notched his personal record with a time of 25.47.

Gray and Koslowski also competed in the 60 meter hurdles with times of 9.22 and 11.29 respectively.

Freshman distance runner Andrew Erickson (Stewartstown, Pa. / Red Lion) also set a personal best at the Patriot Games in the 5K as he put down a time of 16:46.78.

Freshman Grant Dell (Westminster, Md. / North Carroll) performed at a high level on Saturday as he took home the top times for York in both the mile and the 3K with times of 4:30.03 and 9:03.07 respectively. 

The Spartans will return to the indoor track when they travel to East Stroudsburg University on February 7 to compete in the DeShriver Invitational.
