BALTIMORE, MD – The York College men's track and field squad picked up an eighth place finish at the 20-team John Hopkins University/Loyola University Invitational on Saturday in Baltimore, MD.
The Green and White accumulated 42 points in the invitational.
The Spartans received one first place finish as sophomore Robert Doster (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) won the javelin toss with a meet record distance of 59.85 meters. Doster won the event by over 3.8 meters as he earned ten team points for the Green and White. Teammate Alexander Aponte (Delran, N.J./Delran) finished eighth in the javelin with a toss of 44.10 meters.
Sophomore Terez Beauford (Parkville, Md./Loch Raven) also had a good day in the throws for York as he finished fourth in the hammer throw and seventh in the discus. Beauford recorded a best throw of 42.01 meters in the hammer. His best toss in the discus was 39.72 meters.
Senior Eddie Kraft (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) registered a ninth place finish in the shot put with a best heave of 12.97 meters.
In the sprint events, Darnell Tillman (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro) had a great day for York. Tillman finished sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.99. He also placed eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.26. Freshman Darien Gray (Bladensburg, Md./Gonzaga) had a great showing in the 110-meter hurdles as he placed third, crossing the line with a time of 15.56.
Senior Tim Hartung (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) placed third in the 1500 meters, completing the race in a time of 3:57.31.
The Spartans' 4x800 relay team placed second in their race with a time of 8:13.60 while the 4x100 relay squad placed eighth with a time of 43.05.
The Green and White return to action on Saturday when they travel to the Greyhound Invitational hosted by Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA.
