ANNVILLE, Pa. – In the second meet in as many days, the York College men's track and field team took a light squad and traveled to Lebanon Valley College for the LVC Invitational.
Darien Gray (Bladensburg, Md. / Gonzaga) opened up the day by qualifying for the 55 hurdle finals. He placed second in the event with a season best time of 8.05. Gray then turned it on in the triple jump. In his second jump of the day, Gray almost broke his school record with a jump of 43-6 to take first by almost a whole foot.
Anthony Smart (Thornton, Pa. / Garnet Valley) started the day off for the distance men with a 2:10.41 800 to place sixth in the event. Joesph Corrigan (Northport, N.Y. / Northport) followed smart and finished the 800 in 2:18.82. Patrick Morrison (New Freedom, Pa. / Susquehannock) was able to cruise to tenth in the mile with a time of 5:08.61 with Devon Pepper (Bordentown, N.J / Bordentown) following with a time of 5:19.68.
In the throws, Alex Palescandolo (Derwood, Md. / Magruder) took fourth in the shot put with a toss of 43-10.75. Also, placing in the top eight were Robert Doster (Middletown, Pa. / Middletown), with a toss of 39-8 for 7th, and Alonzo Abraham (Severn, Md. / Meade), with a toss of 37-7.25 for 8th. Terez Beauford (Parkville, Md. / Loch Raven) took first for the strong York contingent in the weight throw, with a toss of 48-6.75. Beauford's toss set a new school record for the Spartans. Following Terez, Alex Aponte (Delran, N.J. / Delran) took 3rd (44-2), Ian O'Brien (Orefield, Pa. / Parkland) took 6th (38-1.5), and Palescandolo took 8th (37-10).
