SALISBURY, Md. – The York College men's track & field team finished the Capital Athletic Conference Championships in fourth place overall on Sunday afternoon at Salisbury University. The Spartans finished with 70 total points behind Salisbury, Mary Washington and Frostburg.
Phillip Cavaluchi (Port Carbon, Pa./Pottsville) had a tremendous day for the Spartans. Cavaluchi hit a huge jump in the long jump for a first place finish. He jumped 7.05 meters and hit over seven meters for the first time in his collegiate career. Cavaluchi also recorded a seventh place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.23.
Also notching another CAC title was Tim Hartung (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin). Hartung finished the 5K with a strong time of 15:20.53. Aaron Robertson (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) followed in fifth place with a time of 16:11.77. Robertson also looked strong in the 1,500-meter run. He raced to a time of 4:24.87 to earn sixth place.
Wil Murray (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township) had a good steeplechase race, earning second place with a time of 10:01.26.
Sean Welsh (Baltimore, Md./Parkville) continued to look strong in the sprints. Welsh took home a second place finish in the highly competitive 100-meter dash with a time of 10.81. He also raced well in the 200 meters, finishing in fourth with a time of 22.30.
The Spartans return to action at 4:00 pm on Thursday for the York Twilight meet at Spartan Track.
