ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The York College men's track and field team traveled to Elizabethtown College on Wednesday afternoon to compete in the Capital Area Classic. The Spartans only took a limited number of student-athletes to the meet, as the rest of the team gears up for an upcoming trip to Florida this weekend.
Sebastian Hall (Mount Joy, Pa./Donegal) had a good day for the Spartans. Hall looked strong in the sprints. He finished second in the 100 meters with a time of 11.60 and third in the 200 meters with a time of 23.51.
Also racing well in the 200-meter dash was Darnell Tillman (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro). Tillman was the top finisher, crossing the line at 23.22. Head Coach Erick Camodeca is pleased at the way both runners are performing at this point in the season.
The other top finisher for the Spartans was Alonzo Abraham (Severn, Md./Meade). Abraham had a really good discus day. He earned first place with a throw of 36.87 meters. Terez Beauford (Parkville, Md./Loch Raven) also competed well. He finished in ninth place with a throw of 31.89 meters. Beauford also threw well in the shot put. He recorded a heave of 11.74 meters for a sixth place finish.
Sean McGinley (Verona, N.J./Verona) recorded a third place finish in the Javelin with a throw of 44.49 meters.
In the 3,000-meter run, Matt Smith (Bel Air, Md./C.Milton Wright), Wil Murray (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township) and Joey Orlando (Minotola, N.J./Buena Regional) finished 11,12,13 with times of 9:33.95, 9:37.56 and 9:38.89, respectively.
The rest of the Spartans return to action this weekend for the Best Western North Florida Invitational. The whole Spartan squad will return to action on Saturday, April 6th for the Green and White Invitational hosted by York.
