BLACKSBURG, Va. – The York College men's indoor track and field team took several athletes to compete at the Virginia Tech Final Qualifier to finish off the season. Tim Hartung (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) capped off his indoor season by once again breaking the record in the mile.
Hartung finished the mile in 4:15.89 and came in ninth place overall. His new time cut off almost 3 seconds from both the CAC record and school record he had previously set last weekend.
Phillip Cavaluchi (Port Carbon, Pa./Pottsville) competed in the long jump. Cavaluchi finished the long jump in 11th place with a leap of 6.62 meters.
Sean Welsh (Baltimore, Md./Parkville) started out the 60-meter preliminaries with a strong time of 7.04. Unfortunately, he false started during finals and was disqualified.
The Spartans will now look towards the outdoor season, which begins on March 16th at York for the Green-White Inter-Squad Alumni Challenge.
