York College sophomore runner Sean Welsh has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week as the conference office announced the honor on Tuesday afternoon.
Welsh, a sophomore from Baltimore, Maryland and Parkville High School, had a fantastic meet at the Terrapin Invitational hosted by the University of Maryland on Saturday.
Welsh began his day by breaking the school record in the 60-meter dash as he ripped off a time of 7.10, breaking the previous record of 7.14. The record-breaking time earned Welsh a sixth-place finish in the loaded Division I meet.
Welsh also had a strong showing in the 200-meter dash as he placed 14th with a time of 23.59.
