Hartung, Cavaluchi Grab CAC Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week Honors

YORK, Pa. – York College men's track & field standouts Tim Hartung and Phillip Cavaluchi obtained the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors on April 10, 2012.

Hartung received the track award after splintering a three-year old CAC record in the 5,000-meter run at the Duke Invitational at Duke University in Durham, N.C. Hartung was also able to improve that previous league-best effort by three seconds to finish 17th overall with a 14:47.72 time. This marks Hartung's second CAC Athlete of the Week honor this academic year as he was also grabbed the conference's men's cross country weekly accolade back on September 13.

Cavaluchi apprehended the Field Athlete of the Week accolade after achieving seventh place in the long jump (6.99m) and 12th place in the javelin (50.78m) at Duke. Cavaluchi, who was named the CAC Co-Field Athlete of the Week last week, proved the only Division III long jumper to make it to the finals.

Hartung, Cavaluchi, and the Spartans return to action Saturday, April 14, when they travel to the Johns Hopkins/Loyola Invitational in Baltimore, Md.
