TOWSON, Md. – The York College men's track & field team finished fourth out of ten teams with 92 points at the Goucher Track & Field Classic on Saturday at Goucher College. The Spartans snagged a pair of firsts as the Green and White continue their preparations for April 16's Capital Athletic Conference Championships.
One of York's two victories on the day came from rookie Gregory Gray in the long jump. The Spartan freshman leapt a distance of 6.76 meters to secure the win.
In the hammer throw, Steven Goldberg snagged the triumph for the Spartans as he recorded a toss of 36.14 meters
Including Goldberg's win, the Spartan throwers put together a solid day at the Goucher Classic.
In the discus, Marcus Bailey recorded a throw of 39.00 meters to collect third. Austin Dubos (sixth) and Zack Raywood (eighth) each finished in the top-ten of the discus with distances of 37.10 and 35.60 meters, respectively.
Phil Cavaluchi competed in the javelin and notched a third-place result with a throw of 48.05 meters while Raywood took third in the hammer.
The high jump saw Zach Rogers notch second-place points for the Spartans.
Edwards ran to an individual second-place finish in the 110 hurdles with a 15.78 time. The Spartan senior also competed at the Towson Invitational on Saturday where he ran the 400 hurdles. Against student-athletes from such programs as Coppin State, Bucknell, and Delaware, Edwards snagged ninth by crossing the line at 58.10.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, April 2, when they host the Green & White Invitational. Start time in York is slated for 10:00 am.
