Ben Edwards, York College’s men’s track & field standout, raced his way into the history books Saturday as he became the Spartans’ third All-American in the history of the program. On the final day of the 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Edwards took eighth in the 400-meter finals to secure his place as an All-American.

The York College men’s track & field team received great news this week as Spartan head coach Erick Camodeca was named the 2011 Capital Athletic Conference Men’s Coach of the Year. The Camodeca-led Green and White won the 2011 Capital Athletic Conference Championship, their first since 1992, as Camodeca picks up his second-straight CAC Coach-of-the-Year award.

Champions of the Capital Athletic Conference! The York College men’s track & field team captured the 2011 CAC team title at their home track on Sunday as their triumph marks the third league title in the history of the program after also winning it in 1991 and 1992. The Spartans posted the win with 160 points while Salisbury, who had won the team title in each of the previous seven years, took second with 142 and Mary Washington came in third with 130.33.
The York College men’s track & field squad competed at the Messiah College Falcon Invitational in nearby Grantham, Pa. on Saturday. In their final meet before next Saturday’s Capital Athletic Conference Championships, the Spartans, who used the meet as a tune-up event, placed 12th out of 16 teams with 31.5 points.

The York College men’s track & field squad grabbed fifth-place at the 2011 Mason Dixon Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday at Christopher Newport University. The Spartans totaled 51 points to take fifth out of nine schools.
The York College men’s track & field squad returned to action on Thursday evening at the Ursinus College Open indoor meet. The Spartans posted a solid showing in Collegeville, Pa. as they took second out of the six programs in attendance, tallying 146 total points.
The York College men’s track & field split their squad on Saturday sending a group to the University of Delaware’s Thomson Invitational and another group to the Lebanon Valley Indoor Invitational. The Spartans finished 13th of the 21 squads at Delaware (21 points) while competing well at LVC.
The York College men’s track & field squad opened up their 2010-2011 campaign at the Dickinson Indoor Invitational this Saturday. The Spartans picked up a third-place team finish, out of the seven programs in attendance, scoring 103 points. The Spartans set several school records at the meet, including a new 55-meter hurdle mark.
Track & field is a demanding sport in which a tenth of an inch or a hundredth of a second can make or break champions. Spartan head coach Erick Camodeca understands those intricacies of the sport, those challenges that come...and takes them head on.
Erick Camodeca has recently been hired as the head coach of the men's and women's cross country and track & field programs as announced by Sean Sullivan, Assistant Dean of Athletics and Recreation, late last month.
