Cavaluchi Named Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week
YORK, PA - York College men’s track and field athlete
Phil Cavaluchi (Port Carbon, Pa./Pottsville Area)
has been selected as the Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week for the week
spanning April 12 - 18.
The Spartan freshman made his assault on the Capital Athletic
Conference by posting the league's top long jump at the
championship meet. The jump gave the Green and White their third win
at the meet. For Cavaluchi the mark of 22’ 11.25” was
the top jump by over a foot amongst his competitors, upsetting the
conference's top seed. The jump also fell .01 meters short of an
NCAA provisional cut.
Cavaluchi also recorded an All-CAC performance in the javelin
with a throw of 175’ 11”. The performance was good for
second in the event behind Spartan teammate Zachary Raywood
(Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham).
Cavaluchi and the rest of the York squad will continue their
2010 outdoor schedule beginning with the Penn Relays and the Paul
Kaiser Classic at Shippensburg. The annual Relays start April 22 at
the University of Pennsylvania while the Kaiser Classic takes place
on Saturday, April 24, at 9:00 a.m.
