YORK, PA – York College men’s track & field head coach Erick Camodeca has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Men’s Track Coach-of-the-Year for the 2010 season. The third-year mentor has done a tremendous job of building the Spartan program in just a brief time.

After a successful indoor season, the squad was ready for a tremendous spring campaign. During the season home opener, the Spartans were able to end the event with six first place finishes. The Green and White finished first place in each of the following three meets after the opener. During the three meet victory streak, the Spartans earned 30 first-place finishes and 33 second-place finishes. The team earned 113 points, 105 points, and 283 points from each of the meets.

Another highlight for the team came when they attended the Messiah College Falcon Invitational. The Spartans walked away with another meet triumph as garnered 139 points to best 14 other squads. Five Spartans came in first in their given events while six placed second.

At the CAC Championships, the Green and White finished in a strong third place with nine All-CAC finishes; three of which came in first place.

During the spring season, York also competed in the Duke Invitational where the Green and White picked up exceptional experience against quality Division I talent.

As the regular season drew to a close, two Spartans set new outdoor records. In the 3000-meter run, Jason Hinkle set a record of 9:10.00. Hinkle also set the 5000-meter run at 15:34:49. Phil Cavaluchi established a new record of 53.64 meters in the javelin.

Under the tutelage of Camodeca, the Green and White continue to improve as a program with a bright future ahead.
