Spartans Compete at Susquehanna Indoor
SELINSGROVE, PA – The York College
men’s and women’s track & field squads competed in
the Susquehanna Indoor Invitational this past Saturday. Both teams
performed well as they continue to gear up for their first outdoor
meet on March 20 at Lebanon Valley.
The men’s 4x200 relay team
captured the highest finish for the Spartans on the day crossing
the line in fifth at 1:35.84.
Senior sprinter Gabe Henise
(York, Pa./Dallastown) took eighth in the 55-meter dash
with a time of 6.76 seconds. Teammates Ryan Liggitt
(Windsor, Pa./Red Lion) and Darren McKoy
(Baltimore, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) finished 11th and tied
for 13th in the event with times of 6.81 and 6.83 seconds,
respectively.
In the pole vault, senior
Steve Kinnear (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) grabbed 10th,
registering a height of 12 feet 11.5 inches. Freshman Mark
Ksiezopolski (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) finished
just behind Kinnear as the rookie tied for 11th by clearing 12 feet
5.5 inches.
On the women’s side,
sophomore Caitlin Rizzardo (Jacobus,
Pa./Dallastown) notched York’s top finish. The
pole-vaulter took seventh, recording a height of 9 feet 6.25
inches. Fellow sophomore Ally Montello (Adamstown, Md.
/Urbana) posted ninth in the triple jump as her trio of
bounds amounted to a length of 32 feet 9.75 inches. Montello also
took 11th in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet.
The women’s 4x800 relay squad
recorded York’s third top-ten finish, taking ninth with a
time of 10:53.21.
In the high jump, freshman
Kate Paczynski (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty)
cleared 4 feet 7.75 inches to place 15th.
The Spartan men’s squad
returns to action next Saturday when they travel to Carlisle, PA
for the Dickinson College Valentine’s Day Indoor Invitational
which kicks off at 10:00 am. The men and women are then slated to
compete at the Susquehanna Indoor Open on Saturday, February 21.
The meet in Selinsgrove is also marked for 10:00 am.
