Spartans Conclude Indoor Season with Susquehanna Open
SELINSGROVE, PA – The York College
men’s track & field team competed in their final indoor
meet of the year Saturday afternoon at the Susquehanna Open. The
Green and White posted five individual top-ten finishes during the
meet.
York’s top individual finish came from
senior jumper Jason Kane (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop
Curley) in the triple jump. Kane’s used a trio of
bounds equating to 40’ 2.25” to take seventh in the
event.
Steve Kinnear (Bel Air, Md./Bel
Air) and Mark Ksiezopolski (Hillsborough,
N.J./Hillsborough), the Spartans’ top two
pole-vaulters, tied for ninth as each posted a height of 12’
11.5” in their signature event.
York’s ninth-place trend spilled over
into the distance events as both Ryan James (Gaithersburg,
Md./Gaithersburg) and Bret Kilefner (Stevens,
Pa./Cocalico) came in ninth in their respective events.
James’ grabbed the ninth spot in the one-mile run with a time
of 4:38.57 before Kilefner registered a 16:58.92 in the 5,000
meters to take ninth.
Joining Janes with a quality time in the
one-mile, Kevin Love (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford)
finished eleventh with a 4:40.39.
The Green and White’s 4x200 relay squad
notched the Spartans’ best overall finish of the meet, taking
fourth in the event with a time of 1:35.44. The 4x800 crew later
posted an 8:27.38 to take seventh.
In the 55-meter hurdles, Ben Edwards
(Howell, N.J./Howell) took eleventh with a time of 8.42
while Darren McKoy (Baltimore, Md./Mount Saint
Joseph) recorded York’s best time in the 55-meter
dash with a 6.81. Teammates Gabe Henise (York,
Pa./Dallastown) and Danny Toula (Gaithersburg,
Md./Gaithersburg) tied for 16th in the event as each
recorded a 6.85 time. Jason Hinkle (York, Pa./Eastern
York) grabbed 12th in the 3,000-meter run with a time of
9:30.46.
Ryan Liggitt (Windsor, Pa./Red
Lion) captured a 12th in the long jump with a distance of
19’ 2.5” while senior thrower Gary Rynier
(Lititz, Pa./Warwick) took 13th with a 41’
8.75” in the weight throw.
The Susquehanna Open concludes York’s
indoor schedule as the Spartans’ now set their sights on the
outdoor season. The Green and White are set to travel to
Jacksonville, Fla. during the College’s winter break to
compete in the Spring Break Open at the University of North
Florida.
