Spartans Compete in DuCharme Invitational
CARLISLE, PA – The York College
men’s track & field squad sent several student-athletes
to compete in the Dickinson College DuCharme Indoor Invitational
last Saturday. This was the second indoor meet the Spartans have
competed in this season with three more to follow.
The Spartans’ top finish on the day came
from freshman pole-vaulter Mark Ksiezopolski (Hillsborough,
N.J./Hillsborough). Ksiezopolski took third in the event
as he finished with a height of 13’6.” The freshman
also secured the fifth-place spot in the 55-meter hurdles crossing
the line at 8.74 seconds.
In the pole vault, the Green and White placed
four Spartans in the top-ten, including Ksiezopolski’s third
place finish. Senior Steve Kinnear (Bel Air, Md./Bel
Air) came in sixth with a height of 12’6”
while freshmen Kevin Southward (Rockaway, N.J./Morris
Hills) and Ryan Ross (Millersville, Pa./Penn
Manor) landed in ninth and tenth, respectively. Southward
posted a height of 11’ while Southward cleared the ten-foot
barrier.
Junior Ryan Campbell (Stroudsburg,
Pa./Stroudsburg) finished just behind Ksiezopolski in the
55-meter hurdles. Campbell crossed the line in 8.97 seconds to
claim sixth for the race.
Freshman Mike Amatuccio (St. James,
N.Y./Smithtown East) recorded a 7.18 time in the 55-meter
dash and registered a 57.85 time in the 400 meters. Campbell and
sophomore Tyler Hickox (Milton, Pa./Milton Area)
finished just behind Amatuccio in the 400. Campbell posted a 58.40,
a mere 45 hundredths of second in front of Hickox’s
58.85.
The Spartans return to action this Saturday,
February 7, with a trip to Susquehanna University. The indoor
invitational is slated to begin at 10:00 am in Selinsgrove, Pa.
