Spartans Conclude 2008 Season at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, PA - The York College men's track & field team completed their 2008 season on Saturday, competing in the Paul Kaiser Classic hosted by Shippensburg University. The Spartans captured 14 top-15 finishes on the day.

York placed in the top-15 in each of the 100, 200, and 400 meter races. Thomas Kentouris (Belle Harbor, N.Y./Saint Edmund's Prep) grabbed seventh in the 100 (11.54), Ryan Liggitt (Windsor, Pa./Red Lion) took fourth in the 200 (22.52), while Chad Richardson (York, Pa./Eastern York) and Bill Horner (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) placed eleventh (53.57) and fourteenth (54.10) respectively in the 400.

Ryan Campbell (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) posted a solid day for the York squad in the hurdles, taking ninth in the 400 with a time of 1:01.83, while capturing eleventh in the 110 crossing the line at 17.73. Tyler Hickox (Milton, Pa./Milton Area) placed thirteenth in the 400 hurdles stopping the clock at 1:02.91.

In the 10,000 meters, the Spartans' Kevin Snyder () and Adam Bean (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X) came in second and third respectively. Snyder posted a time of 36:23.48 while Bean came in at 37:38.52.

The 4x100 relay team of Liggitt, Kentouris, Danny Toula (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg), and Gabe Henise (York, Pa./Dallastown) earned a fifth place finish with a time of 44.11. Danny Bosse (Sykesville, Md./Century) captured a strong sixteenth place in the 1500 meters coming in at 4:10.02, ahead of 43 other runners.

Four Spartans took top-15 places in the field events. Nate Krotzer (Wrightsville, Pa./Eastern York) captured seventh in the high jump with a leap of 1.95 meters while Jason Kane (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) came in thirteenth place in the triple jump with a distance of 12.07 meters. Steve Kinnear (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) backed up last weekend's Capital Athletic Conference championship, tying for seventh in the pole vault by clearing a height of 4.11 meters. Zack Raywood (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham) earned the green and white's best spot in the throws with a finish of twelfth in the javelin with a toss of 49.64 meters.

York's team season concludes with the Shippensburg meet. Seniors Krotzer, Joe Hill (York, Pa./York Suburban), Luke Fernandez (Kennebunkport, Maine/Kennebunk), Brad Kauffman (Columbia, Pa./Lancaster Catholic), and Tim Carrigan (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) now leave the squad after each has left his mark on the Spartan program.
