Mark Ludwig begins his tenth season as York College
men’s tennis team coach.? ?
In 2006, the Spartans notched a record of 13-4 as they
advanced to the semifinals of the Capital Athletic Conference
tournament. Ludwig has led the green and white to a dual match mark
of 33-18 over the last three years as the program has significantly
improved from the start of Ludwig’s tenure.
“The focus of this season will be to build on the
success of the recent seasons,” states Ludwig. “We have
added a talented group of newcomers to a strong core that returns
from last year. I am very excited about the potential of this
year’s team. I expect us to be a team that competes hard and
does very well against a strong schedule.”
Ludwig is also the Spartans’ head men’s soccer
coach in addition to teaching and tutoring math at YCP. Ludwig was
named the NSCAA Division III National Coach-of-the-Year after
leading the green and white to an impressive mark of 21-0-3. The
Spartans won their second straight Capital Athletic Conference
championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Elite Eight
before falling in penalty kicks after tying Wheaton in the
sectional finals. Ludwig was named the NSCAA South Region
Coach-of-the-Year for the second straight year as the Spartans
carry a 40-game unbeaten streak into the 2007 fall season.
Ludwig lives in York with his wife, Connie, and their infant
son, Christian.
