GETTYSBURG, PA – The York College men's tennis team suffered their first setback of the year as they dropped a tight 5-4 decision at Gettysburg College on Wednesday afternoon. The Spartans fall to 4-1 overall while the Bullets improve to 3-1 with the victory.
The Spartans took two of the three doubles points to seize the early lead. The Bullets then won the third through sixth singles matches while the Spartans took the first and second singles matches as York dropped its first match of the fall.
1st Singles: Ben Sentz def. Nick D'Amore, 4-6, 7-5, 10-5
2nd Singles: Sam Innerst def. Kevin Maier, 6-4, 7-5
Junior Ben Sentz improved to 5-0 at first singles for the Green and White … senior Sam Innerst also picked up a singles win as he is now 4-1 for the season … York dropped their first doubles match of the year as the Bullets won the first doubles point … York is now 14-1 in doubles play for the year.
The Spartans return to action on Sunday when they travel to Washington, DC to face the Catholic University Cardinals in a non-conference contest. The match is slated for a 12:00 pm start.
