Salisbury Downs Spartans 8-1 in Men's Tennis Action

YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Salisbury University in a Capital Athletic Conference match on Friday afternoon in York.

The Spartans fall to 6-7 overall with the loss as they are now 1-2 in the CAC. The Sea Gulls improve to 10-4 overall and 2-1 in the CAC. The Sea Gulls are ranked 13th in the region.

The Sea Gulls captured the three doubles matches, winning the first doubles match 8-3 and the second doubles match 8-2. Tyler Richard and Justin Rose battled James Kwedi and Connor Truitt in the third doubles match as the Sea Gull duo eventually won 9-8, 10-8 in the tiebreaker.

Salisbury won the first four singles matches in straight sets to take control of the match.

Richard and Truitt had an epic battle in the fifth singles match. Truitt won the opening set 6-2 but Richard answered with a 7-6 (12-10) second set win. Richard earned the win with a 10-7 victory in the decisive third set.

The Spartans return to action on Sunday when they host Christopher Newport in a Capital Athletic Conference contest. The match is set for a 3:00 pm start at the Spartan Tennis Centre.
