Spartan Men's Tennis Opens Spring Schedule with a Victory

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The York College men's tennis squad opened up their 2018 spring campaign with an 8-1 win over Cabrini University in Hilton Head, South Carolina on Tuesday afternoon.

The Spartans have won five straight matches after starting their season with three straight losses. York ended the fall with four straight wins.

1st Singles: Ben Sentz (YCP) def. Alijah Broadnax (CU), 6-3, 6-1

2nd Singles: Sam Innerst (YCP) def. CJ LaMantia (CU), 6-1, 6-4

3rd Singles: Devin Lehigh (YCP) def. Vince Paetow (CU), 6-4, 6-2

4th Singles: Lukas Olson (YCP) def. Nick Falcone (CU), 7-5, 6-3

5th Singles: Sam Price (YCP) def. Nick Tilley (CU), 6-0, 6-0

 

Doubles:

1st Doubles: Innerst/Lehigh (YCP) def. Broadnax/LaMantia (CU), 8-5

2nd Doubles: Sentz/Price (YCP) def. Paetow/Falcone (CU), 8-3

3rd Doubles: Tyler Richard/Justin Rose (YCP) def. Tilley/Matt DeMaria (CU), 8-2

 

Notes:

The Spartans have won their last four matches by a combined score of 30-2 … Sam Innerst and Devin Lehigh both won to improve to 6-2 overall in singles play as they have both won six straight matches … Sam Price is 5-2 in singles play as he has won five straight decisions … in doubles play, Ben Sentz and Sam Price have combined to go 5-3 at second doubles.

York faces off against Coastal Georgia in the second match of their three-match spring trip. The match is slated for a 3:00 pm start.
