Spartans Drop 8-1 Decision to Salisbury

YORK, PA – The Salisbury University Sea Gulls earned an 8-1 Capital Athletic Conference men's tennis win at York College on Wednesday in York.

The Sea Gulls improve to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the CAC while the Spartans fall to 4-4 overall and 0-2 in the league.

The Sea Gulls captured three points in the doubles matches but the Spartans made all three matches close. The Gulls won the first doubles 8-5, the second doubles 8-4 and the third doubles 8-6.

The Spartans picked up their lone point in singles play as junior Daniel Erk (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) earned a 6-2, 6-4 fourth singles win over Matthew McGaffney. Senior Matt Rosenkrantz (Longmeadown, Mass./Longmeadow) played well for York in the second singles match as he fell 7-5, 6-4 to Salisbury's Demetri Vrahnos.

The Spartans return to action when they face Christopher Newport on Friday evening at 6:00 pm in Fredericksburg, VA.
