York Falls at St. Mary's in CAC Opener

ST. MARY'S, MD – The York College men's tennis squad opened their spring campaign with a 6-3 loss at St. Mary's College in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday in St. Mary's City, MD.

The Spartans fall to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference while the Seahawks improve to 2-4 overall and 1-0 in the league.

The Seahawks gained a 2-1 lead after the doubles matches as SMC won the first and second flights. York's duo of Nathaniel Hoskins (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) and Jake Greenstein (Morris Plains, N.J./Parsippany Hills) notched an 8-5 third doubles win to salvage a point for York.

The Seahawks posted wins in the first, third, fourth, and fifth singles matches to earn the win. Matt Rosenkrantz (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) won the second singles match 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 while freshman Kaltrin Bullaj (Glen Rock, Pa./Susquehannock) won the sixth singles match 6-2, 6-2.

Daniel Erk (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) dropped a tough three set decision in the fourth singles match. Greenstein also lost a tough match as he fell in three sets including two tiebreakers in the fifth singles match.

The Spartans head to Washington College to face the Shoremen on Sunday afternoon at 11:00 am.
