HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The York College men's tennis squad dropped a 6-3 decision to Eastern Nazarene in match two of their 2013 Hilton Head spring trip on Tuesday afternoon. The Spartans have now lost two straight as they stand at 5-3 for the season. Eastern Nazarene improves to 2-1 with the victory.
The Lions swept the three doubles matches but York was competitive in two of the three. Tyler Cheatham (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and Nathaniel Hoskins (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) dropped an 8-5 decision at first doubles while Matt Rosenkratz (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) and Jake Greenstein (Morris Plains, N.J./Parsippany Hills) lost 8-6 in the second doubles match up.
The Lions notched wins at first, second, and fifth singles which would be enough to capture the match. York managed wins from Hoskins, Rosenkratz and Daniel Erk (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown). Hoskins recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win at third singles while Rosenkratz was a 6-0, 6-2 victor at the fourth singles flight. Erk improved to 6-1 overall as he earned a 6-3, 6-3 win in the sixth single match.
The Spartans are slated to return to action on Wednesday, March 6 when they face the Malone University Pioneers in a 9:00 am match in Hilton Head.
