Green and White Fall at St. Mary's (Md.)

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The York College men's tennis squad suffered a 9-0 loss at St. Mary's College of Maryland Tuesday afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference action. With the defeat, the Spartans fall to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in CAC play while the Seahawks improve to an impressive 15-3 and 4-1 in the league.

Despite the final result, the second doubles match needed extra play to determine the winner while three singles matches went three sets.

Tyler Cheatham and Nathaniel Hoskins nearly improved their 2011-12 doubles record to 11 wins on the year, but fell just short. The sophomore tandem dropped second doubles 9-7.

At second singles, Philip Myers stretched Arvin Wong to three sets (7-5, 1-6, 6-1) while in the fifth spot, freshman Matthew Rosenkrantz forced three sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-2). Fellow rookie Jake Greenstein went the distance in the sixth spot (6-3, 3-6, 6-2).

York returns to action on Thursday, April 12, as they host Dickinson in a 4:00 pm non-conference match.
