Spartans Fall to Cardinals in Non-Conference Match
WASHINGTON, DC – The York College men's tennis squad dropped a 6-1 decision to Catholic University in Washington, DC on Tuesday afternoon. The Spartans fall to 0-1 while the Cardinals improve to 4-0 with the non-conference win.
The Spartans dropped the first five singles flights as the Cardinals took the commanding lead. Nate Hoskins fell in three sets in the third singles match. He notched a 6-0 first set win against Brian Bradley but Bradley rebounded with to win sets two and three, 6-2 and 6-4.
York's Matt Rosenkrantz got the Spartans on the board in the sixth singles match as he rolled past Schuyler Hayward 6-0, 6-3 as he remains unbeaten in the fall season.
The Cardinals picked up the lone doubles point as Cassian Utrie and Jean Paul Roman outlasted Phil Myers and James Villari 9-8 in the first doubles match. The remaining two doubles matches were not played due to darkness.
The Spartans return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they host Messiah College in a non-conference tilt. The match is slated for a 3:00 pm start.
