GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Playing their fifth match in three days, the York College men's tennis team fell to host Gettysburg Monday afternoon 7-2 in a non-conference tilt. The defeat drops the Spartans to 9-6 on the season while the Bullets improve to 9-3.
Due to the poor weather earlier in the season, the Green and White headed to Gettysburg for this make-up match.
Harvey, who now sports an 11-6 singles record this season, picked up his win at second singles via a second-set retirement from the Bullets Mike McLaughlin. At the time, Harvey had won the first set 6-3 and was leading 1-0 in set number two.
Hostetter tallied the win in the fifth singles slot, collecting a straight-set triumph. The Spartan senior captain put together a 6-3, 7-5 victory to improve to 9-8 on the season.
The Spartans return to action on Thursday, April 14, as they travel to Stevenson. York visits the Mustangs for a 3:30 pm Capital Athletic Conference contest.
(NOTE: The original release indicated that the men's tennis match against Stevenson was on Tuesday, April 12. Since the initial release, the date has been pushed back to Thursday, April 13.)
