Golden Bears Down Spartans

KUTZTOWN, PA – The York College men’s tennis squad continued their tough slate Wednesday, dropping an 8-1 decision to Division II Kutztown University in Kutztown. The Spartans fall to 2-5 for the 2010 campaign while the Golden Bears improve to 2-2 for the year.

Sophomore Ryan Harvey (Fallston, Md./Fallston) captured York’s lone win of the afternoon as he secured the sixth slot for the Green and White. Harvey took the match in straight sets courtesy of a 6-0, 6-2 performance against Nicolas Simon, a product of nearby York Suburban High School.

Also in singles, senior Paul Graci (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) pushed Kutztown’s Kaushik Das in the #1 slot but eventually fell 7-5, 6-3.

In doubles action, the duo of Harvey and Justin Hostetter (Lincoln University, Pa./Oxford Area) gave Asok Mukherjee and Cameron O’Donnell a solid match. However they too fell, losing by an 8-5 result.

The Spartans return to action on Friday, March 19, when they hit the road for a third consecutive time. York visits Penn State – Harrisburg in a 3:30 p.m. non-conference tilt.
