DOVER, DE – The York College men’s tennis squad picked up their first Capital Athletic Conference triumph of the 2010 season with a 9-0 shutout over Wesley in Dover, Del. The Spartans improve their season record 2-4 (1-2 CAC) while the Wolverines open up the year at 0-1.
The Green and White swept through each of their singles matches with ease sweeping each match in two sets.
Seniors Paul Graci (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) and Steve Collison (Westville, N.J./Woodbury) garnered 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0 victories, respectively, in the #1 and #2 slots.
Colin Jones (Felton, Pa./Red Lion) tabbed the triumph in the third position with a 6-0-, 6-1 win.
Travis Klein (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East), Justin Hostetter (Lincoln University, Pa./Oxford Area), and Ryan Harvey (Fallston, Md./Fallston) each registered 6-0, 6-0 victories in the fourth through sixth spots.
York also tallied 8-1 wins in each of the three doubles matches. Graci and Collison combined for the first doubles triumph while Harvey and Hostetter took the second spot. Philip Myers (York, Pa./William Penn) and James Villari (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) saw their first double action as a pair and garnered the third position triumph for the Green and White.
York will look to ride their momentum when they return to action tomorrow, Wednesday, March 17. The Spartans will travel to Division II Kutztown for a 3:30 p.m. date with the Golden Bears.
