Men's Tennis Drops Season Opener at UMW

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The York College men’s tennis team dropped their 2010 season opener, falling to nationally ranked Mary Washington 9-0 in their Capital Athletic Conference opener on Sunday. The Spartans fall to 0-1 while the Eagles improve to 2-3 overall.

The Eagles rolled to a trio of 8-1 wins in the doubles action as they seized control early. They continued to control the match in singles play. Mary Washington won the third, fourth, and sixth singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 counts. Colin Jones (Felton, Pa./Red Lion) and Ryan Harvey (Fallston, Md./Fallston) each won two games in the second and fifth singles matches respectively.

The Spartans are now off until March 1 when they face Wingate in the first match of their 2010 Spring Trip to Hilton Head, S.C. The four match trip runs from March 1 through March 3.
