YORK, PA - The York College men's tennis team received outstanding news Wednesday as both Tim Mowrer (Gordonville, Pa./Pequea Valley) and Colin Jones (Felton, Pa./Red Lion) were selected to the 2009 All-Capital Athletic Conference squad.
Mowrer garnered first-team singles honors after another impressive performance this season, while he combined with Jones to secure second-team doubles accolades.
Mowrer lands on the all-league singles team for the third time in his illustrious career, including two first-team bids. The senior, who was a first-team choice in 2008 and a second-team selection in 2006, posted an impressive 13-5 mark this season as York's top singles player.
Mowrer leaves the Spartan program as arguably the best tennis player to have ever worn the green and white. His sparkling 53-19 career record, playing mostly from the #1 spot, gives Mowrer a stellar .736 winning percentage.
Jones and Mowrer paired for a solid 8-6 campaign in 2009, their first season playing doubles together. The duo posted a 7-5 mark in the top spot and an even 1-1 record playing second doubles. They turned it on at the end of the season, tallying a three-match win streak.
