YORK, PA - The York College men's tennis team recorded their fourth straight win as they shutout Wesley College 9-0 in Capital Athletic Conference action on a brisk Wednesday afternoon. The win is the Spartans' third straight shutout win and their sixth shutout win of the year.
York improves to 8-7 overall with the win while they rise to 3-2 in the Capital Athletic Conference. Wesley falls to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in the CAC.
The Spartans mixed up the lineup a bit in doubles play. Paul Graci (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) and Colin Jones (Felton, Pa./Red Lion) combined to roll to an 8-2 win in the first doubles match. Ryan Harvey (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and Patrick McKee (York, Pa./York Catholic) teamed up to post an 8-2 win in the second doubles contest. Justin Hostetter (Lincoln University, Pa./Oxford Area) and James Villari (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) also recorded an 8-2 win in the third doubles match.
In singles play, senior Tim Mowrer (Gordonville, Pa./Pequea Valley) posted an easy 6-1, 6-1 win in the first singles match. Graci recorded a 6-4, 6-0 second singles win while senior Joel Trimmer (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) recorded a 6-2, 6-1 third singles victory. Steve Collison (Westville, N.J./Woodbury), Jeff Mansfield (Bartonsville, Pa./North Harford), and Travis Klein (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) all recorded pro-set victories in their match. Collison won 8-2 in fourth singles while Mansfield and Klein notched 8-0 wins in the fifth and sixth singles matches respectively.
The Spartans are now off until April 15 when they travel to St. Mary's College to close out their regular season. The match in St. Mary's City is slated to start at 3:00 pm.
