Spartan Men's Tennis Campaign Comes to a Close
SALISBURY, MD – The York College men’s tennis team saw their six match win streak and their 2009 season come to a end on Monday as they fell to Salisbury University 9-0 in the semifinals of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament. The Sea Gulls advance to the championship match against Mary Washington as the Eagles rolled past Hood 9-0 in the tournament’s other semifinal.
The Spartans were competitive in the first doubles match as
Scott Burtzlaff and Evan Thomas defeated York’s Tim
Mowrer (Gordonville, Pa./Pequea Valley) and Joel
Trimmer (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) 8-5. The Gulls won the
second doubles 8-0 and the third doubles 8-2.
Burtzlaff got the best of Mowrer again in the first singles match as the Spartan senior fell 6-3, 6-3. The loss ends the career of Mowrer as he concludes his four years in the Green and White as the all-time singles wins leader at YCP. Mowrer completes his career with a mark of 53-19, good for a winning percentage of 73.6%.
The Sea Gulls cruised to comfortable wins in the second, third,

recorded a 6-1 win in the second set.
Salisbury’s Sasha Felikson closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-0 win in the sixth singles match.
