YORK, PA - York College junior Steve Collison (Westville, N.J./Woodbury) has been selected as one of two Co-Capital Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week for men's tennis. Collison collected a 2-2 singles record over four matches last week, while he also went 2-2 in doubles. Wesley senior Andrew Smyth joins Collison in capturing the honor.
After Sunday's loss, Collison rebounded on Monday with a 6-0, 6-3 singles triumph in his #4 spot over Alvernia's David Schaeffer. Collison then helped secure the doubles point when he teammed with Paul Graci (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) to take the third slot 8-1.
Collison was then a part of two of the Spartans' three points against Gettysburg on Friday. He won his #4 singles match 6-2, 6-1 while pairing up again with Graci to secure an 8-4 third doubles win.
The 2-2 week keeps the junior's singles mark above .500 for the year as he now stands at 6-5.
