Mowrer Cracks Region's Top-25

YORK, PA - For the first time in the history of York’s men’s tennis program, the Spartans have a player ranked in the Atlantic South region’s top-25 by itatennis.com. Tim Mowrer (Gordonville, Pa./Pequea Valley), the green and white’s top man in singles, achieved the #25 ranking after defeating Salisbury’s Brendan Kincaid 6-4, 6-4 back on April 2.

Mowrer finished his junior campaign posting a 16-4 individual mark, playing each of his 20 matches in the number one slot. He also teamed up with Joel Trimmer to garner the squad’s best doubles record at 13-4 for the season. An experienced player, Mowrer compiled a 13-4 record as York’s #1 singles player last year as only a sophomore.

“We are all very proud of Tim,” Spartan head coach Mark Ludwig said. “He has not only been blessed with incredible athleticism but Tim is also a great worker both on and off the court. Tim had a great season and it is wonderful for him to achieve this honor.”

As a team, the Spartans put together another strong year as they are becoming one of the better squads in the region. Finishing 2008 with a mark of 15-5, including 4-2 in the Capital Athletic Conference, the Spartans swept eleven of their by a 9-0 score line. York is primed for a big 2009 as only three players are lost to graduation while majority of the line up, including Mowrer, returns.
