Mowrer Named CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Tim Mowrer had a great week as he went 3-0 at first singles for
the Spartans this week as he earned the Capital Athletic Conference
men's tennis player of the week for the second time this year.
Mowrer began the week with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Chris Covey from
Goucher. He then defeated Salisbury’s Brendan Kincaid, who is
ranked 13th in the region and had defeated #5 Randy Loden earlier
in the week, 6-4, 6-4. Kincaid entered the match undefeated in the
CAC with a perfect 5-0 record. Kincaid entered the match 16-2
overall for 2007-08 and defeated Mowrer 6-1, 6-0 in the CAC
tournament last April 19.
Mowrer then concluded his week with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Michael
Hardman from Hood.
In doubles play, Mowrer went 1-1 as he teamed with Joel Trimmer to
win over the Goucher second doubles team 8-0 before falling to the
Salisbury tandem of Evan Thomas and Matt Nicholson 8-6.
For the season, Mowrer is 13-2 in singles play and 11-2 in doubles
play in 2008.
